The purpose of this study was to develop teaching/learning materials for open inquiry activity and an open inquiry module and to examine their effects. It's specifically meant to map out a lesson plan for the theme of open inquiry by utilizing Equisetum arvense L. and the inquiry tasks, open inquiry activities and science stories of the science curriculum in a partial or integrated way in order to develop these materials and module. Life of Equisetum arvense L., in order to create materials for learning that are connected with the curriculum revised in 2009 as there are no domestic studies on Equisetum arvense L. that can be used as learning material. Through the integrated application of 3 W questioning strategy to the 3-stage inquiry module (exploration, in-depth, and application), learning materials for observing the Equisetum arvense L. world under a microscope by each stage and the preliminary plan of open inquiry activity subjects using Equisetum arvense L. were restructured. As a result of applying the open inquiry module developed in this study using Equisetum arvense L., this module was found to exert an effective influence on the improvement of the self-directed learning attitude, interest and problemsolving skills of the students who received education using the module. The purpose of this study was to verify the validity of the development of materials for learning alternative biology through the reconstruction of new learning materials and exploration of the possibility of an open inquiry module using Equisetum arvense L.
