The purpose of this study was to identify misconceptions about sweat glands and feedback regulation through the analysis of the objections filed against biologyⅠitems on the Korean College Scholastic Aptitude Test(KCSAT) and try to find out if the misconceptions were caused by incorrect descriptions in textbooks or teachers' incomplete explanations. For the purpose of this study, the objections filed against biology Ⅰ items on KCSAT were analyzed in oder to identify the misconceptions. Eight biology I textbooks were then analyzed to investigate how the subjects related to the misconceptions were described in the textbooks. The results were as follows: Firstly, It was found that the process of sweat production was described either incorrectly or ambiguously in most of the biologyⅠtextbooks. Despite the fact that the process of sweat production does not involve filtration, most of the textbooks described this matter incorrectly. Secondly, the feedback regulation was so complex, dynamic, and abstract that students could hardly have a scientific concept of it. Most of the textbooks described that the concentration of blood glucose was regulated by antagonistic actions of insulin and glucagon hormone. Therefore, many students believed that the concentration of insulin was regulated not by feedback but by antagonistic actions. In this case, the inaccurate and ambiguous description of feedback regulation affected teachers' explanation of the concept. Consequently, it caused students to have the misconceptions about insulin regulation.
