The purpose of this study was to examine the high school students' interest in biology. The instrument consists of two components(topic and activity), and 64 three-point Likert scale items. Data were collected from 279 high school students(male: 167, female: 112). The interest related to the topics exceeded a little average, but the interest related to the activities didn't exceed average. Both 11th and 12th graders had the highest interest level in animal morphology of topics and in the activities related to animal of activities. It was investigated that the highest interest scores were showed in the category of animal morphology of topics in boy students case and the category of plant reproduction in girl students case, and in the visual information activity of activities in boy students case and in conceptual inquiry activity in girl students case. The human biology correlated strongly with genetics and respiration of plant and animal, and the plant morphology correlated with plant reproduction and nutrition in topic component. The correlation between plant-related activity and conceptual inquiry activity, and experimental performance following procedure and observing through a microscope was strongly significant in activity component. We can know that teaching- learning strategies considering the differences of interests between the two gender students are required and deliberating the plans are required to induct the students interest and to develop teaching theory and material which can heighten the effect of lessons.
