The purpose of this study was to investigate interest of middle school students in topics related to digestion, circulation, respiration and excretion in school biology. The instrument to survey their interest consisted of 36 questions, which were 3-point (1 to 3) Likert scales. Subjects were 1,787 middle school students from 7th to 9th grade in 15 middle schools of metropolitan city, small city, and rural areas. They had the highest interest level in circulation domain, but the lowest interest in excretion domain of them. Middle school students of metropolitan city had higher level interest than others. The level of interest of them depending on locality was distinctive. There was seen the meaningful positive correlation between 4 domains. The results can suggest that teaching- learning strategies be considered the differences of middle school students' interests between residential locations, and be required to induct the students interest in biology education.
