The purpose of this study is to provide the direction of TIMS(Taxi operation Information Management System) in Gyeonggi-Do. TIMS has the function to provide the information related to taxi’s operation, ridership, mileage, driving records and so on.
The department of Seoul transportation policy has been operating the Seoul TIMS since 1992. The ministry of land, infrastructure and
transport has developed the TIMS in Daejeon City. There are some differences between the Seoul’s TIMS and the Deajeon’s TIMS in the area of methods to collect the information related to taxi’s operation.
The result of this study shows that the method developing Gyeonggi TIMS individually is better than the method like the development of Deajeon TIMS. That is due to the fact that the circumstances related to taxis in Gyeonggi-Do are more complicated than those of any other regions exclusion of the Seoul metropolitan area.
Therefore, this study suggests that Gyeonggi TIMS should be individually developed to manage the system efficiently, and composing of the team to operate and manage the system continuously after the completion of the Gyeonggi TIMS.
