The purpose of this study is to analyze the contents of the textbooks used in professional development program for biology teachers for the latest 5 years, and to understand the substantial change of the experiments trend and its meaning. To analyze the contents, we set 5 categories: statements of objectives, appropriateness of the process, degree of students' activities, the consistency of contents and procedure, possibility of applying in classroom. The analysis of the objectives shows that the understanding of scientific knowledge has been emphasized, but the objectives to increase students' scientific attitude and their inquiring mind have been hardly found. In terms of the contents, there are plenty of manipulating activities, which makes it possible for students to achieve scientific attitudes, inquiring skills and substantial knowledge. The agreement of the objectives, procedures, and results is reasonable and the possibility of classroom application seems high. However, it lacks stimuli to interest students and inspire their scientific mind. For the first 3 years, genetics comprised most of the textbook contents. However recently diverse themes and activities have been included.
