The purpose of this research is to explore how employees’psychological and physical withdrawal influence their intention of turnover and innovative work behavior in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). More specifically, this study tried to examine the progression model of withdrawal behaviors and also to investigate how to differ the withdrawal behaviors’progression according to employees’higher or lower positions in organization. Analysis from 300 employees’questionnaire data who work in SMEs revealed the results as follows. First, psychological and physical withdrawal behaviors were found to have a positive significant effect on employee turnover intention as we expected. Second, psychological withdrawal behavior was found to haver a negative significant effect on innovative work behavior, but the effect of physical withdrawal behavior was not related to that. Third, physical withdrawal behavior itself was found to have a significant effect on turnover intention and served as a mediating variable in affecting the positive relationship between psychological withdrawal behavior and turnover intention. However, the mediation effect of physical withdrawal between psychological withdrawal and innovative work behavior was not significant. Fourth, while progressive model of withdrawal behaviors were significant in the lower-level position in organization, the higher-level position was not significant. Thus, the result of this study provide the theoretical and practical linkage between withdrawal behaviors and employee turnover and innovative work behavior. In addition, the results also emphasize the importance of employees’withdrawal behaviors in considering leaving their organization and less likely to engage in innovative behavior.
