The purpose of this study is to synthesize the effectiveness of English language instruction using Content-Based Language Teaching in primary school in EFL environment through quantitative meta-analysis. This study selected 25 experimental studies on teaching English language using Content-Based Language Teaching for primary school students. The number of subjects, mean, and standard deviation from individual studies were analyzed by meta-analysis. This study examined the mean effect size of the English language instruction using Content-Based Language Teaching in primary school, the differences among 6 sub-categories such as grade, treatment period, content type, and the differences among dependent variables such as English competence and affective factors. The mean effect size of the English language instruction using Content-Based Language Teaching in primary school was .542 (z=13.757, p=.000), a middle-sized effect. The low level grades(1-2 grade) were more effective than the high level grades(5-6 grade). For the long-term treatment period, 9-16 weeks were more effective than the short-term period (1-8 weeks). For the content type, mathematics was the most effective in other contents such as physical education, music, science, art, and social study. Through these findings, the English language instruction using Content-Based Language Teaching showed that it could have a positive impact on primary school students in EFL environment.
