In this paper, the source of the articles recorded in the Bok-mun-rok (復文録) and the process used to collect the original Korean sentences is investigated by the method of comparing the contents of the original and extracted Korean sentences. At first, the professors at the Cho-ryang-gwan-eo-hak-so (草梁館語学所) used the Korean textbooks of Tsushima (対馬島) and Korea-related information books to collect well-made Korean sentences for retranslation class. Furthermore, they collected Chinese poems and historical facts (故事), and some legends and folktales, while gathering historical records as the contents of the treaty. When we compare the original sentences to the extracted ones, some of them do not correspond to each other. This problem occurred in the process of changing the original style into a mainly colloquial style. As a result, the extracted Korean sentences of the Bok-mun-rok (復文録) were recorded mostly as spoken language. In other words, the Tsushima’s Korean interpreter education at the Cho-ryang-gwan-eo-hak-so (草梁館語学所) was performed mainly in a colloquial style in order to elevate conversation ability which could be used immediately in an actual diplomatic negotiation.
