The purpose of this study is to promote employment of the severely disabled by proposing the creation of a position as a broadcasting reporter. In order to develop an employment model, 4 steps of this project’s process are presented: job development, vocational training, job placement, and job maintenance.
The outcomes of the study are as follows:
First, the employment creation model as a traffic broadcasting reporter for people with severe disabilities is presented so that employment service providers are easily able to utilize it.
Furthermore, participation in this project can help the severely disabled raise their self-esteem, as well as self-efficacy, and overall satisfaction with life. This positive impact is the outcome of various support structures throughout the project.
Third, disability awareness is heightened by publicizing the process of the project through various media.
This study has symbolic meaning, not only as a first in Korea, but also in terms of the creation of a new job model called traffic broadcasting reporter. The results of the project may be utilized in broadcasting companies as well as various organizations throughout the country to promote employment of the severely disabled.
