Historical fictions for children, these are based on the assumption that the starting of these fictions is out of literature part and has sensitive response for different arguments or educational intention. This paper is focused on how to effect the process of literary figuration and make historical fiction for children which has been created with background at former modern times
Recently created fiction for children is categorized as follows. The first is that Dangun mythology is used as motive for creating the fiction for children. Though former times traditional fiction for children was based on a tale included in Samguk yusa, in these days historical fiction for children has special tendency that is created from background with mythology for establishment of a country. This paper pays attention to the process that mythology is being included in boundary of fiction for children. Besides, this research tries to understand how to continuously relate traditional tales from one of fictions for children with spatial background beyond Korean Peninsula.
The second characteristic is that the recent fiction for children is approaching the living history using fictitious character. But hero for traditional fiction was ‘prince’ or ‘king’ who made political history which corresponded to establishment of a country and the rise and fall of empire. Especially fictitious character is not the nobility or royalty but children from the common people or servants. This is process to recover a concrete children life of old days and children’s radius of action of old days. At the same time, in these kinds of works, fiction writers for children state different angles which are cultural history with letters, characters and pictures. This tendency distinguishes works in these days from the former works which usually focus on political history. Due to the particular characteristics of fiction for children, it is not separated from educational intention for keeping pace with times. This paper makes a study for results and limitations of each work with focusing on those aspects.
