This treatise takes account of the reading-methodology and discussion-established form in Seong Ho School's Academic accomplishment. I examined the main discourse by dividing it into two classes : academic methodology of Silhak and attitude for classical canon.
During the 18th century, the medieval system of Chosun Dynasty was collapsed and new rule order was being formmed. Yi Ik and some scholars were seeking to embrace various studies and ideologies in succession to the Southernist affiliated with the Northernists thought, and contributed to bring forth the Seong Ho School. Under the study of classical canons, they were placing an emphasis on the pursuit of matter in their studies and, more importantly, urged the importance of doubt and self-acquirement. Gilseudokpub, Itakgangron, Hamungiljung were advanced private educational method by Confucians.
Following the Confucianism education, they had been criticized the theory of Chu Hsi Learning, and were stressed the compromising and liberal academic accomplishment in the Confucian Studies. That is to say Seong Ho School's attitude for classical canon created a new sphere would made a criticize the previous ready-made interpretational trends. Consequently free critical thought showed the rationalistic thinking and free from Chu Hsi philosophy. This is clearly differentiated typical of Seong Ho School's Confucian studies, compared with general way of at that time which blindly followed the Chu Hsi's annotation.
As a result, they were proposed a new system of the learning method. These characteristics of academic methodology can be called as progressive attitude or progress of modern academic system.
