This thesis examines the representation of primal expenence repeatedly appeared in Choi In-Hoon's novels and its relationship with self-reflection of living form of writing. Choi In-Roon performs figuratively his desire as elite-author for cope with and overcome problems of Korean modernity by means of the representations of his prima1 experience. In this respect, primal experience functions as mirror throwing back the author's desire and intention on the writings. Therefore the dominant emotion-structure of prima1 experience is reanalyzed and reconstructured one after the fact through his attitude to the real and his desire to the writings. This emotion-structure of prima1 experience repeats the core of desire of writing in which narcissism is the kernel axis. In that respect, the primal experience is a self-reflective form which dramatizes living form and desire of his writing itself dominated by narcissism. This point is revealed in another ways in which the narrative composition made by contents of prima1 experience from 'finding a refuge in books' to 'taking shelter in dugout' reflects the basic schema of Choi-Inhoon's novels like mirror image.
Like this, in Choi In-Hoon's novel, the primal experience becomes a symbolic form on which the kernel of the writer's own desire and living form of writing is projected. Each content and emotion-structure of Choi In-Hoon's primal experience, and narrative composition made by these are the mirror images which reflect Korean modern situations, his attitude to it, and his nature of writing originated from it. In this respect, the primal experience constructs a mise en abyme in his novels. And in the other side of that mise en abyme, there is will to self-cognition as an elite-author about his own writing and situation. In conclusion, In Choi In-Hoon's novels the primal experience is a self-reflective form that dramatizes the living condition and desire of elite-writer who living and cope with the problems of Korean modernity in 1950~60's. In that sense, his primal experience is narrative stuff which allows to intermediate self-reflection on the living form of writing. In conclusion, the primal experience is the origin of Choi In-Hoon's writing, especially constructed origin.
