This study aims to investigate the conditions determining the validity of interpretation. Text is always rewritten by the reader who is the subject of interpretation. The meaning of a text is not decided by the writer but reconstructed by the reader. And the validity of interpretation is up to not the intention of the writer but the interpretative strategy of the reader.
This paper examines the conditions determining the validity of interpretation by means of investigating the interpretations of Oh Jang-whan's poem, ?Sooboo (Capital city)?. Three conditions that make a interpretation valid are as follows; (1) the objectivity of meaning should be approved, (2) the intersubjective meaning context which is appropriate for the text should be created, (3) that meaning context should be kept consistently in accordance with the hermeneutic circle.
These conditions of the validity are meaningful as the strategies of the reader who interprets the text and may be used with know-how by the leaner. In the classroom, the learners also must be allowed to read, interpretate and experience the text by themselves. The interpretative strategies based on intersubjectivity will make it possible.
