This paper has explored the content analysis of consecutive interpretation performances by undergraduate interpretation majors moving from English into Korean. Two types of texts were used for this study, a formal speech text (FST) and an informal speech text (IST) with the aim of which type would be more appropriate for the training of undergraduate students. The data showed that the rate of interpretation disruption stood at 41% for FST, and 26% for IST. suggesting that the participants of the study handled the IST text more comfortably than the FST text. The data showed omissions and delays, in the process of handling relatively lengthy structures, such as compound and complex sentence types, probably because the subjects had more difficulties both comprehending and taking notes of the message smoothly. On the basis of the results and findings of this study, the IST text type may be more desirable for the training of English-into-Korean consecutive interpretation. Therefore, a text, which involves more common short sentences, free from technical terms and lengthy structures, is considered to streamline the efficiency of consecutive interpretation education.
