The purpose of this study is to examine errors in Russian police interpretation and to derive implications for the improvement of police interpretation education. According to the results of the analysis of police interpretation errors, “omission” was the most common, followed by “substitution” and “addition”. In terms of the subcategories of error types, they were “vocabulary substitution”, “vocabulary omission”, “sentence omission”, “vocabulary addition”, and “sentence addition”. In terms of linguistic orientation, almost all types of errors were more frequent in the Korean-Russian direction. This is because the police's questions contain a variety of information, including legal and medical terminology, names, and numbers. There was a large difference in the number of errors among individual interpreters, and the frequency of errors among interpreters who graduated from professional graduate schools of interpretation and translation was significantly lower. The implications of police interpretation education based on the analysis of police interpretation errors are as follows. First, it is necessary to introduce note-taking strategies in police interpretation training and provide guidelines for self-learning. This is because note taking can be a very efficient tool to improve the accuracy of police interpretation. Second, considering the characteristics of police interpreters' discourses, interpreters should be familiar with the suspect's notice that contains legal terms and the expressions that are frequently used by the police in the course of the investigation. Third, emphasis should be placed on maintaining the accuracy and neutrality of interpretation, which is an important code of ethics for police interpretation. If the errors and specific cases of interpretation that are the results of this study are used in the training of police interpreters, it will be possible to overcome the limitation of insufficient class time and improve the efficiency of the lessons.

본 연구는 러시아어 경찰통역의 오류 양상을 고찰하고, 경찰통역 교육 개선을 위한 시사점을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 경찰통역 오류 분석 결과에 따르면 ‘누락’이 가장 많았고, ‘대체’, ‘추가’ 순이었다. 오류 유형의 하위 범주로 보자면, ‘어휘 대체’, ‘어휘 누락’, ‘문장 누락’, ‘문장 대체’, ‘어휘 추가’, ‘문장 추가’ 순으로 나타났다. 언어 방향성 별로 보면, 한-러 방향에서 거의 모든 유형의 오류 발생 빈도가 높았다. 이는 경찰의 질문에 법률용어, 의료용어, 고유명사, 숫자 등 다양한 정보가 포함되어 있기 때문이다. 통역인 개인별로는 오류 발생 건수의 차이가 컸고, 전문통번역대학원을 졸업한 통역인의 오류 빈도가 현저히 낮았다. 경찰통역 오류 양상 분석에 기반하여 도출한 경찰통역 교육의 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 경찰통역 교육에서 노트테이킹 전략을 소개하고, 자기학습을 위한 가이드라인을 제시할 필요가 있다. 노트테이킹은 청취와 표현 단계를 연결해 주는 툴이 될 수 있기 때문이다. 둘째, 경찰통역 담화의 특징을 고려하여 법률용어가 포함된 피의자고지문이나, 경찰이 수사를 진행하는 과정에서 자주 사용되는 표현 등을 사전에 숙지할 수 있도록 한다. 셋째, 경찰통역의 중요한 윤리규범인 통역의 정확성과 중립성을 지킬 수 있도록 강조한다. 본 연구의 결과인 통역인 오류 양상과 구체적인 통역 사례들은 경찰통역 교육 시 노트테이킹을 활용한 경찰통역의 정확성 제고, 제도대화로써의 경찰통역 담화의 특징 소개, 윤리규범을 강조하기 위한 유익한 사례가 될 것으로 기대한다.
