Natural product is still a key player in drug discovery and development programs as a source for novel structures or lead compound. It represents a wealth and indispensable source for structural diversity. Jeonnam has the largest number of natural resources in Korea with medicinal plants and special biological resources. Conventional natural products discovery programs rely on bioactivity-guided fractionation methodology for isolation, purification, and structural elucidation of bioactive lead compounds from crude extracts, in which the bioassay results guide the purification processes.
