Xue Hui 薛惠 was a great Confucian who lived in Ming dynasty. He had written book about Laozu such as LAOZUJIJIE 老子集解. This article is a study of this book. At this article, I had made a profound study of this book’s contents and had found out several philosophical facts. He had made a commentary on Laozu in the view of Confucian, and had made a conclusion that Laozu’s philosophy was not different from Confucius’s philosophy.
First, he had concentrated he’s effort on finding out Laozu’s real intention in Laozu. Even if he were a Confucian, he had tried to read and understand Laozu objectively.
Second, he had an idea that Laozu’s philosophy was not different from Confucius’s philosophy. For this, he had asserted that Laozu’s dao was not different from Confucius’s Xing Ming 性命. Also he had emphasized that Laozu’s philosophy was not nihilism
Third, he had criticized those Confucian who had criticized Laozu’s philosophy. He had asserted that Chengzu 程子 and Zhuzu 朱子 had misunderstood Laozu’s philosophy.
