As the uncertainty of the environment increases, the importance of knowledge sharing within the organization is further emphasized. Knowledge sharing enables new knowledge creation through exchange and combination of knowledge, as well as the spread and dissemination of knowledge. The beginning of knowledge sharing at the organizational level to secure an organization's competitive advantage is knowledge sharing at the individual level. Nevertheless, in the existing research, studies on the direct effects and contextual factors of knowledge sharing at the individual level on individual work performance are insufficient. In this study, in particular, we suggest the proactivity and organizational identification as a boundary condition between knowledge sharing and individual work performance, and then investigate their moderating effect. In order to verify the research hypothesis, empirical analysis was conducted for researchers in the R&D center where knowledge sharing is important. Empirical results based on 139 individuals showed that knowledge sharing had a positive effect on individual work performance. In addition, proactivity strengthened the positive relationship between knowledge sharing and individual work performance. On the other hand, contrary to expectations,organizational identification alleviated the positive relationship between knowledge sharing and individual work performance. Lastly, the theoretical and practical implications of this study and future research directions were discussed
