The purpose of this study is to find out the effectiveness of PBL in the gifted education by developing and implementing the PBL teaching and learning program for the scientifically gifted students. The experimental group with PBL has been compared with the control group with the traditional method in terms of their attitudes toward science, self-directed learning ability and interest on biology. Also, questionnaire and interview was conducted after completing the program. Before practicing the program, there was no significant difference (p>.05) on the attitude toward science, self-directed learning ability and interest on biology between the experimental group and control group. On the post-test, however, there was a statistically significant difference (p<.01) not only in the attitude toward science (11.77) but also in the self-directed learning ability (13.41) and the interest on biology (8.21) showing that the average score of the experimental group was higher than the control group. Interview shows that PBL program would influence positively for the precocious to build the various abilities: for understanding the "problem" and combining the proper knowledge for the solution, for showing an continuous efforts and cooperative attitude, for making a decision, for having positive image of the scientists. Therefore, the PBL program made a positive effect on the attitude toward science, self-directed learning ability, interest on the biology and various abilities in the gifted education.
