Purpose: This research is a preliminary research for developing stuttering test tools (whose scoring method is simple) for children and it can be used at a clinical purpose conveniently. This research intended to develop the task and questions in a bid to conduct a test of fluency in spoken language. Methods: This research revised and developed questions in line with the characteristics of the Korean language on the basis of TOCS (Test of childhood Stuttering, Gillam et al., 2009), and induced utterance for the speech fluency test targeting 3 normal children (aged 5, 9, 11) to confirm whether questions and pictures were suitable. Results: First, for the test of speech fluency, this research developed and produced 84 words (84 pictures) in rapid picture naming task, 40 questions (80 sentences, 80 pictures) in modeled sentences task, 40 questions in structured conversation task (8 pictures), and 8-scene story in narration task. Second, when this research induced utterance targeting normal children, it was found that there were error response in 17 items of rapid picture naming task, and in 10 items in modeled sentences task. And in structured conversation task, short utterance with one or two words was induced for 5-years-old child. In narration task, short utterance was found to be induced from 2 questions. Conclusions: This research, as a preliminary one for developing stuttering test tools for Korean children, thinks that there is a need to develop testing tool in precise consideration of language development during the childhood, and pictorial characteristics of the Korean language for a fluency test of a child who is placed in time of language development.
