Purpose: The purpose of this study is to review the literature on anxiety in adolescence who stuttering and to summarize the relationship between stuttering and anxiety suggested in the literature. Methods: In the Pudmed, Google scholar, Tylor & Francis online article search engine, 16 studies that satisfy all three conditions of "stutter/fluency disorder" + "adolescents" + "Anxiety" were analyzed. Results: First, there are three studies showing that the anxiety level of stuttering adolescents falls within the normal range, while Gunn et al. (2014) suggested that 38% of stuttering adolescents have anxiety-related mental disorders. Second, in one study, there was no association between the severity of stuttering, age, sex, and anxiety level. Conversely, three studies reported that anxiety level increased with age. The severity of stuttering was more correlated with the severity of stuttering perceived by adolescents and anxiety than the severity of stuttering measured objectively. Third, tests to evaluate anxiety in adolescents who stutter are using the diagnostic criteria of DSM-4 (Gunn et al., 2014, 2019), Revised Children"s Manifest Anxiety Scale (RCMAS, Reynolds & Richmond, 1985), Speech Anxiety Thoughts Inventory (SATI, Cho et al., 2004), and Screen for Childhood Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED, Birmaher et al., 1999). Fourth, the intervention studies suggested the applicability of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to reduce anxiety in adolescents who stutter, and suggested that it be used together with other stuttering intervention techniques. Conclusions: Based on the results of this study on the anxiety of adolescents who stutter, it is necessary to pay attention to the anxiety problem of adolescents who stutter, and to evaluate and treat on the anxiety aspect if necessary.
