Lady Subin was concubine of King Jeongjo and the birth mother of King Sunjo. King Jeongjo did not procreate queen Hyoui. So, He tried to give birth to son from royal concubine. There was Prince Moonhyo that King Jeongjo gave birth with Euibin Sung but died in 1786. He needed Son to inherit throne so, He selected royal concubine. That time, Bannam Park Bak Jun-Won’s daughter became royal concubine. This person was Lady Subin. Subin accomplished her duty to royal concubine. She gave birth to son. The crown prince ascended the throne following the passing of the king Jeongjo. That was King Sunjo.
Position of Subin was some special on the Choson Dynasty. She was King mother and royal concubine and She was alive when her son ascended the throne. Often ascended the throne, there were prince of the concubine in the late Choson period. However, mother which lay him generally was state that already die. Therefore, the regulations are being made for position and status of Subin. This was similar experience in King Jeongjo period. Hyegyunggung Hong was alive that King Jeongjo’s mother. but there was difference that Hyegyunggung Hong was wife of Crown Prince who predeceased but Sunbin Park was the king’s royal concubine that died.

After the accession to the throne of King Sunjo was treated as a king’s mother. And King Sunjo cherished memory of the best after she died in 1822. That time, It followed precedent that Yeongjo did to mother Sukbin Choi. Lady Sunbin was royal concubine of late king and king’s own mother was alive after son became king. So Subin’s status was high and reverence for her.
