The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of evaluative concerns perfectionism as one of the internal characteristics of gifted students and their parental pressure for academic achievement as an external factor on mental health problems of gifted students. This study also aimed to investigate the mediation effect of subjective well-being and moderating effect of social support on the influence of evaluative concerns perfectionism and parental pressure on mental health problems of gifted students. To investigate these research questions, data were collected using the survey research method among 146 students in gifted classes and gifted educational institutions in college. As a result, first, subjective well-being was found to partially mediate the relationship between evaluative concerns perfectionism and mental health problems among gifted students. Second, subjective well-being was found to perfectly mediate the relationship between parental pressure for academic achievement and mental health problems among gifted students. Third, the social support perceived by gifted students was found to moderate the relationship between evaluative concerns perfectionism and their mental health problems. Finally, the moderating effect of social support was also valid in the relationship between parental pressure for academic achievement and gifted students’ mental health problems. The findings of this study suggested that subjective well-being needs to be treated as an important factor, as it has significant influence on mental health problems of gifted students. Educational implications for effective intervention for gifted students are discussed based on the results.
