This research aims to identify college students` satisfaction with, concern about, and interest in basic physical education, and their awareness of its necessity, as well as their opinions on class operation methods, practice-oriented class operation, and limiting of the number of students in class, and on converting basic physical education into a mandatory subject, and their related awareness levels. The research thus came with the following conclusion. First, college students` satisfaction level for basic physical education was found to be fair according to gender and school years. Also, both males and females showed high awareness levels for the necessity of basic physical education. For concern levels, males were fair, and females were somewhat high. Also, for interest levels, both males and females were relatively high. For limiting the number of students in class, more males were in favor of it than females. Second, as for the class operation method, more males wanted practice-oriented class, while more females wanted both practice-and theory-oriented class. And, for the practice class operation method, both more males and females wanted a skill-acquiring-oriented class method. 27.7% of males and 30.9% of females wanted a skill-segmented class method. In particular, for competition (match) -oriented class method, 26.8% of males supported it, and 8.4% of females did. All together, both males and females agreed entirely on the necessity of basic physical education with high interest. However, as for the concern level. females showed an even lower level, compared to males. Also, a majority or more of females favored limiting the number of students in class. More males favored a competition (match)-oriented class method, and more females favored a practice-combined theory-oriented class. In particular, both males and females wanted a skill-acquiring class method.
