With a sharp rise in demand on out-bound translation. one of the biggest challenges of finding effective training modules for translation from a native language into a second language, or AB translation, is yet to be addressed. So this study applied 'back translation' technique in the classrooms. Graduate students of Ehwa GSIT were required to translate a news article and a product specification, which had been translated from English into Korean(TT1), then after back-translating(TT2) the TT1, they made comparative analysis with the original English text(ST). There were quite a few, but noteworthy differences between TT2 and ST. One of them is the subject structure. As the Korean text(TT1) either has no subject at all or prefers to have animated subjects, students found it difficult to find corresponding subjects in TT2, which resulted in repeated subjects and thematic information. Second difference between TT2 and ST was that the TT2 was not up to the efficiency of ST in terms of verb use, and the TT2 showed redundancy of using the same objects and references. Third was the unequivalent lexicons between TT2 and ST stemmed from different lexical fields of the two languages. Forth was difference in thematic structure and information structure. Fifth, TT2 and ST have shown a notable difference in dealing with linguistically and non-linguistically implicit information. Taking note of all these syntactical, semantical and lexical differences between TT2 and ST, this study shows back translation proved to be one of useful education modules as well as research tools for AS translation training and evaluation.
