The integration problem of Korea today has changed dramatically compared to five or ten years ago. Actually, we find two quite distinct and different integration problem in today's Korea Firstly, the problem posed by ethnic and cultural minorities. Secondly, the potential danger from the next generation of the first immigrants, which stays out of the main stream of Korean society. These two problems have to be dealt with according to the diversity of global society.
Social integration is inseparable from the social acceptance or commitment of cultural diversity, which can be the central resourse for sustainable social development. Only by stabilizing the social situations susceptible to ethnic and cultural upheavals we can bring social harmony/security and integration in Korea. And this can be accieved by the culture-bound communication, intercultural communication and engagement. Intercultural communication becomes successful to the extent that communicative partners share the mutual understanding. In the intercultural communication, therefore, the interactants must willingly go onto the shared expectation and value for the future goal of the society, which should be supported by institutional system/policy and programmed devices and courses. Furthermore, such a policy demands an social answer for diversity and integration to the social minority.
