The purpose of this study was to investigate the number of optimal set(foot contact) of PT in the same exercise intensity.
Twenty-four subjects participated in this study from S, N high school in B metropolitan city. Subjects were randomly selected divided into three groups, 1 set group plyometric training group(60-100reps, n=8), 2 sets group plyometric training group(100-150reps, n=8), 3 sets group plyometric training group(120-200reps, n=8). The group conducted PT programs consisting of 75-85%RM(20sec), 40-80 minutes a day, 3 days per week for 9 weeks. Date analyzing method were two-way repeated ANOVA (Scheffe), one-way ANOVA and paired t-test using SPSS 14.0.
Isokinetic muscle function was measured before and after training, and the results were as follows.
1. Knee joint 60˚/sec
1) In case of peak torque%BW(right), a within group comparison revealed that both 2 and 3SG significantly improved extensors and flexors after the training.
2) In case of peak torque%BW(left), a within group comparison revealed that both 1 and 3SG significantly improved extensors and both 2 and 3SG improved flexors after the training.
2. Knee joint 180˚/sec
1) In case of peak torque%BW(right& left), a within group comparison revealed that both 2 and 3SG significantly improved extensors and flexors after the training.
This study revealed that PT is most pertinent to about 100-150 repetitions(2sets) rather than an increase in quantity the number of set(foot contact).
