The purpose of this study was to define the most effective method in order for Ssireum players to improve isokinetic muscle strength on the knee joints and trunk. The participants were 18 high school students, who were divided into 2 groups: weight training(WT; n=9), plyometric training(PT; n=9). Isokinetic muscle strength on the knees and trunk measured was the peak torque/body weight, the average power/body weight, and strength ratio of ipsilateral. For analysis of the collected data, paired t-test and independent t-test(SPSS version 18.0) was used to determine the change between pre and post(after 12weeks). And observed for variation within groups through delta score. It was shown that the peak torque/body weight and average power/body weight of knee joint was increased by WT. Also the left and right extensor of total work and peak torque/body weight and average power/body weight of truck was increased too. Among the peak torque/body weight, the left and right extensor, left flexor, left and right ratio of ipsilateral were increased by PT. Also the average power/body weight of the left and right extensor and flexor, right extensor and flexor of total work and right ratio of ipsilateral were increased too. In isokinetic muscle strength of knee joint, the left and right extensor and right flexor of peak torque/body weight, the average power/body weight of left extensor and total work were higher when doing WT than PT. Also among the total work of truck, flexor and ratio of ipsilateral were higher in WT too. However, the peak torque/body weight of knee joint, ratio of ipsolateral of total work, extensor and average power/body weight of trunk were higher when doing PT than WT.
