The noteworthy point of 『Silver World』is that this novel changed into the advocative statement for the social structure by showing a man of liberalism came to embrace the Confucian social system with the full sense of loyalty.
In the first half of story Choi, Byeong Do (Choi) reflected both aspects as an ideal citizen with political awareness (projection of the current of the times) and as a righteous person having conservative moralism deep inside of him (organization of reality). Furthermore through this part alluded to the general idea of latter part of the story which emphasized that nations should accomplish their duty and obligations as people of the emperor.
Finally Choi, Byeong Do died as a righteous nation while impeaching feudal lords for impropriety and corruption. This should be the mirror of traditional national moral sense of the times.
The novel reflected the intention of the author, Lee, In Jik attempting to influence the society by presenting the enlightenment thought (Preparation Theory) aiming at constructing modern country(sovereignty comes from the people’s rights), and also to present the theme of encouraging the good and punishing the evil.
This work which is including the dual aspects of Choi’s life and dual structure of popular awareness/anti-feudalistic idea and pro-Japanese tendency shows the meaning of reunion as the mixture of civilization, Confucianism and pro-Japanese ideas. It could be evaluated that this work formed cooperative relation between drama and society on the basis of the thought that a drama has mutual relationship with society via reflecting /influencing the real world.
Thus, the scheme that related media to society could cause this novel to become a leading post in the literary field at the times of nationalism enlightenment movement.
