Most of the preceding researchers have admitted that the original and the first rewritten version are nearly same work because of the author’s mention in the preface in the first rewritten version that he revised only a part of landlord, Go Byung-sang’s end. However, comparing between the original version and the first rewritten version, it is found out, the rewriting is done in a lot of parts of this novel.
In the first place, it is found out that the rewriting is done not only in the end of Go Byung-sang but also in the part of incident that Gaegujang’s wife and Sun-i’s mother appear. And also, it is found out that parts of main contents are rewritten: revision of small title, removal of important sentence, addition of new sentence, and so on.
In the second place, resulting from the comparison between the original version and the first rewritten version, the rewriting is done not only in contents, but also in form. Form means a mode of language composition, that is, a literary style. Except orthographical rules and words-spacing rules, taking ten parts’ revisions on the average into account, it should be pointed out that the author made an much effort to refine sentences.
In the third place, in the course of clarifying the process of Land ’s rewriting, we are supposed to infer how novels of North Korea were rewritten. The literature of North Korea can be defined as that of stereotype. Under the definition, by clarifying the process of Land ’s rewriting, the first novel of North Korea, we can infer general rewriting aspects of North Korea’s novel. And it is told that the literary works of North Korea vary its contents little by little to the alternation of literary policy. However, the work about which the rewriting process is mentioned specifically is limited to Land. This fact tell us that the rewriting process of Land is recognized as a model.
