Our folklore societies have discussed ‘sexuality’ or ‘gender’ in several times, but we don’t treated with an aspect of ‘love’. A healthy sexuality is existed with love, so we have to consider ‘sexuality’ and ‘love’ in our folkculture. A content of sexuality and love is widespread in folktale and folksong, mask dance drama, village ritual and so on, therefore we need to note each genres has different cognitions.
In folktale, one concentrate with emotional expression of love. A disease of love folktale or ‘Sangsabaem(snake of love)’ folktale is mainly handing downed. In folksong, no disease of love or one-sided love, and be only existed pleasure of love actively. Especially in the rice field song, it’s very open mind with sex and love because male and female work together.
In Talchoom(mask dance drama), one represent to a issue of sex and love dynamically as a satire theater. But emotion of love is disappeared, only sexual behavior is emphasized. Traditional folk have tried to overcome under conflict of social class by playing Talchoom that exposure sex and destroy sexual taboo. In a village ritual, a Gut of sexual behavior purposed abundance and bearing many young is notable. In case of ‘a Couple of village guardian deity’, do sexual behavior as compromise rite and do a Gut of sexual behavior clear up sexual lack for a virgin village goddess.
A typical way of sexuality and love go through the process of step, that is, ‘love - marriage - sex - childbirth’. But many folkculture passing over this process beside folksong. A childbirth in folktale, a marriage in Talchoom, a love in belief is lacked. Only folksong has four condition. Folksong male and female sing together on working is the most healthy culture relatively. Therefore healthy culture is representing to more heathy sex and love well.
