This paper is aimed at to draw up an idea to enlarge trade through formation of base trade of the West Coast of Korea and the East Cost of China. Above all things, the trade between Korea and China was done historically for long time ago. As a strategy to increasing for Korea-China trade, the economic development should be come true that makes the West Coast of Korea and the East Coast of China. And than. it is the center for base trade which are forming the relation of foreland of both of them. That is, the facts suggests the possibility on trade-enlargement through a base trade development with historical neighboring relationship.
From the geopolitical aspect, the fact was identified to raise the possibility of the base trade development that both countries have kept main trade success so long time in the center of the West Coast of Korea and the East Coast of China due to their geopolitical characters. The West Coast of Korea is not only merited the advantage of balanced development of national land, but the efficiency of investment from the linked development of various harbors industrial zone. It also gets an advantage for the base-trade development to China. For the East Coast of China is
taking charge of playing a great role as a main axis zone of China which is rich in latent development potentiality. It is analyzed to be fully equipped with satisfactory conditions to enlarge trade through a base trade development of Korea-China.
On the basis of these analyses. in order to form the foundation for the trade-enlargement of Korea-China, the strategy for Korea to enlarge trade by the development of the hinterland's industrial area in center of various harbors located at the West Coast, and for China at the East Coast is suggested as well.
And also just good conditions of location of harbor in the West Coast of Korea and the East Coast of China because harbors of the West Coast of Korea and it's rear industrial zone including Inchon, Asan, Kunsan and Mokpo from the relationship of the foreland coast with those of China including Darien, Tianjin, Jintao and Ientai. It was identified there was a possibility to trade without super-large harbors and ships. That is. it was estimated that there were profits to reduce the cost of equipment because for the unnecessity of super-large container and freight traffic.
If the concrete strategy for a base-trade development of Korea-China on the basis of these economic conditions would be summed, as follows:
1. Activation of harbor function will be rapidly requested Because the coast of two countries form a mutual foreland, as a comment for this, the function of harbor should be specialized respectively through the optimal harbor. development than the investment for super-large size harbor facilities.
2. Adding to facilities investment of harbor by hinterland's industrial base-arrangement itself. hinterland's industrial complex development linked with each harbor should be emphasized For this, it would be urgency to invest concentrically for the rearrangement of rear support cities and industrial complex arrangement. And also it needs for coast oriented land development to be continuously gone on which can develop and utilize potential resourses of coast.
A main strategy was summed and suggested for a base-trade development between Korea and China. So far from overall estimation, both of coast were proved as a very favorate area to enlarge trade of them.
Therefore, a I though trade of them is not in full-scale phase, it looks to be enlarged step by step.
Also the development of business of both countries would be developed actively by the development of a base-trade of them. The conditions of port are important to the development of hinterland's industrial zone rather than the condition of location itself.
Although the West Coast of Korea has estranged because our main economic zone has been axised Seoul, Taegu and Pusan, it is estimated to have strong potential power so that it's development would be good position.
As for China though it's economic development has been in the center of the south coast, the East Coast has a bright prospect to be it's economic development axis, there would be a continuous economic and technological development. Therefore, a base-trade of both countries, like above, has a bright prospect to be enlarged.
From the short and microscopic point of view, this study would be appreciated as a far-future model, but from the long and macroscopic one, enlargement of economic trade of both areas which are linked the West Coast of Korea and the East of China would be come true due to economical and historical necessity.
