Monitoring is essential to ensure safe and efficient operations in human-robot collaborative (HRC) assembly. This study presents a context-based monitoring interface designed for HRC assembly operations with two heterogeneous collaborative robots (cobots). The interface architecture consists of data acquisition, processing, decision-making, communication, and visualization layers. Key features of the system include understanding the operational context by monitoring both manual and automated tasks, collision prevention, and dynamic task execution based on real-time task progress. By incorporating ontology-based knowledge management, the interface connects with task assignment and monitoring models, providing a simplified and clear visualization of operational data, task progress, resource status updates, and cobot movement direction. The Modbus protocol ensures efficient data exchange, maintaining a synchronized workflow between operators and cobots. Decision-making processes, such as cobot speed adjustments and early task execution based on monitoring, resulted in significant reductions in assembly time, with a 42.9% improvement over baseline operations. Compared to existing HRC monitoring systems, this interface reduces cognitive load through a clear, structured layout, enhancing task comprehension and worker safety. This study demonstrates the potential of context-aware interfaces to optimize safety, productivity, and adaptability in HRC environments, contributing to a more efficient collaborative assembly process.
