The global halal food market is expanding rapidly, attracting growing interest from domestic food companies. Entry into this market requires halal certification, reinforced by scientific verification from halal laboratories. The detection status of pork components and ethanol of halal laboratory of Korea Food Research Institute has analysed revealing a continuous increase in demand for halal certification and haram component analysis, yet also identified areas for improvement. A qualitative analysis of pork components revealed an average detection rate of 0.71% relative to the total number of analyses, suggesting the necessity for enhanced cross-contamination prevention measures in certain products. On the other hand, a quantitative analysis of ethanol presented a relatively high average detection rate of 3.59%, with rice cakes, gochujang, and flavors identified as the primary affected items. This study is expected to offer foundational insights for domestic exporting companies aiming to enter the global halal food market.
