In Korean society, illegal drug use related to tourism is a serious issue. Regarding such a problem, the purpose of this research was to investigate the characteristics of tourists related to drug tourism. The research sample of this study included tourists in their 20’s with long-term stay experiences. Thus, the goal of this research was to inspect the perception of drug tourism. This study used a qualitative method and collected the data via structured interviews. The interviews were conducted with ten participants who had stayed at a tourist destination where drugs are legal for at least one month. The results revealed four emotions that were linked with drug tourism, which included disgust, contempt, fear, and guilt. This study is valuable in that it suggests implications for adequate policy design.
