This paper is a trial discussion for a comprehensive study on Lee Hyung-gi"s literature. Lee Hyung-gi has been writing in various genres such as poetry, novels, essays, poetry, creative theory, aporism, and newspaper articles during his more than 50 years of work. However, most of the research is concentrated on poetry and theory of poetry, and even that is a situation where there is no diversity, continuity, and totality of research.
To this end, in this paper, the premise and direction of full-scale research on the vast Lee Hyeong-gi literature were presented based on the basis of the bibliography from four perspectives. First, it is necessary to secure original works of othe genres such as the confirmation of the original works and newspaper articles. This means the expansion of research beyond what has been limited to poetry and poetry. Second, Lee has written in various genres such as poetry, novels, and newspaper articles, and some of the bibliography confirms how the different genres have expanded with linkage. This also leads to the connection and expansion of genres and worldviews. Third, we looked at the relationship of influence with other writers at home and abroad. In particular, this paper examined his relationship with Oscar Wilde and found that this was reflected in his literary works. The fourth aspect is the formation and expansion of the religious worldview. Lee confirmed that he was interested in religions such as Christianity and Catholicism, as well as Buddhism.
We can see in part that he organically expanded various genres and literary worldviews and reflected them in his works. Therefore, it is significant that in the future for the holistic study of Lee Hyung-gi"s literature, this paper can be a research direction and method. Moreover, since it is nearly 20 years after the death of Lee Hyung-gi, and the creative activities have already been completed, researchers should pay more attention and conduct comprehensive research. This is because the weight of Lee Hyung-gi in the history of Korean literature is not light.

본고는 이형기 문학의 총체적 연구를 위한 시론(試論)이다. 이형기는 50여 년동안 작품 활동을 하면서 시, 소설, 수필, 시론, 창작론, 아포리즘, 신문기사 등 다양한 장르의 글을 써왔다. 그런데 시와 시론에 연구가 거의 집중되어 있고, 그것마저도 연구의 다양성, 연속성, 총체성이 없는 상황이다.
이를 위해 본고에서는 방대한 이형기 문학에 대한 본격적인 연구의 전제와 방향성에 대해 크게 4가지 관점에서 서지의 근거를 토대로 제시하였다. 첫째 작품과 원전의 확보라는 측면에서 시 원전 확정과 신문기사 등 다른 장르의 원전을 확보하는 일이 선행되어야 한다. 이는 그동안 시와 시론에 국한되었던 것을 넘어 연구의 확장을 의미한다. 둘째 이형기는 시론, 소설, 신문기사 등 다양한 장르의 글을 써왔는데, 서로 다른 장르가 어떻게 연계성을 갖고 확장되어 나갔는지 서지를 통해 일부 확인하였다. 이는 장르 및 세계관의 연계와 확장과도 이어진다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째 국내외 다른 작가와의 영향 관계에서 살펴보았다. 특히 본고에서는 오스카 와일드와의 관계를 살펴보았고, 그것이 문학작품에 반영된 것을 확인하였다. 넷째 종교 세계관의 형성과 확장의 측면이다. 이형기는 불교를 비롯하여 기독교, 가톨릭 등 종교에도 관심을 갖고 있었다는 점을 확인하였다.
이상 그가 다양한 장르와 문학적 세계관을 유기적으로 확장하고 그것을 작품에 반영했다는 것을 일부 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 앞으로 이형기 문학의 총체적 연구에 있어, 본 논문은 한 연구 방향과 방법이 될 수 있다는 점에 의미가 있다. 더욱이 이형기 사후 20여 년이 가까이 오는 시점이고, 이미 창작활동이 완결되었기 때문에 연구자들이 더욱 관심을 갖고 총체적인 연구를 진행해야 한다. 이는 한국문학사에서 이형기가 갖는 무게가 가볍지 않기 때문이다.
