The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the outdoor exploration programs on scientific attitude and perception of elementary pre-service teachers. Participants were 31 volunteers among second, third and fourth graders at the College of Education. The outdoor exploration program was conducted in Gangneung, Gangwon- do, and consists of Birdwatching and lagoon exploration programs. The results of this study were as follows. The outdoor exploration program influenced positively the participants' scientific attitudes, especially in areas such as behavior and practice. Participants were looking for new exploratory activities or methods in order to improve the teaching ability. Birdwatching and lagoon exploratory activities were satisfied the curiosity of elementary pre-service teachers, and were also effective in changing scientific attitudes. Long-term planned exploratory activities are more effective, but opportunities for short new exploratory activities could have helped elementary pre-service teachers develop their scientific attitudes or qualities as elementary school teachers.
