The purpose of this study is to analyze current situation of the educational gap caused by the economic level of the family in the COVID-19 era. An online questionnaire was conducted with the school related group, including students, parents, and teachers who were enrolled in the total 800 elementary, middle, and high schools in Gyeonggi-do. The main results are as follows. Students in lower-income families were inadequate environment to take the online class from home. Indeed, they were in challenge to understand the contents of class and to work on the assignments. On the other hand, students in higher-income?families received more supports from parents: participating with their children in online classes, supporting to school assignments and to private education. This shows that the educational gap to students based on household income is possible to link with the educational inequality. The efforts from school level was insufficient to reduce the current educational gaps. This research concluded that the existing education policy is necessary to be revised to resolve the educational gap caused by the COVID-19. In addition, several alternative approaches to compensate the current educational gaps were discussed. This suggests that it may be difficult to solve the current education problem with the existing policy supports that guarantee educational opportunities. Based on the results, policy measures to compensate for the current educational gaps were discussed.
