Skepticism for Stanley Cavell is not simply a philosophical school of one of the various trends of philosophy. Skepticism is a both an epistemological and ethical (aesthetic) crux. Although the modern human being understands that he lives with others and the world, it is to his subjectivity that he turns as a last instance of this belief. This article reveals that skepticism effects a split between the subjective and objective to which the world and the other belong. So, for modern human beings, the world is the sum of things I can"t reach, and also I can"t say that I"m truly with someone else. Humanities therapy is related to the question of how to look at the individual"s loneliness and anxiety, and the question of what is the solution from loneliness and anxiety. In this context, Cavell"s reflection on skepticism raises the question of how the other and the world can raise the possibility of a possible coexistence beyond my closed subjectivity. From the paradigm of skepticism that persists from modern to the present, human beings are in a difficult situation. In that situation, the world became objectified and the modern people who have been isolated as a prison of subjectivity are suffering from the absence of meaning. This article reveals that Cavell"s thinking is an attempt to revive the meaning of the world and the other.
