This article seeks to examine Baekseok"s poem from perspective of a sublime community. In this process, it will be revealed how the poetic subject goes beyond the individual dimension to solidarity with the community others and expands his vision. In Baek Seok"s poems, sublime and community ideology cross each other and form the basis for creating a new community.
Poems that include childhood experiences sensibly reproduce a community of sacrifice and emptying, death and festivities, fear and warmth in a sensational sense, revealing a sublime community beyond past experiences. It is presented as a community that encompasses, but exceeds, traditions and ethnic communities.
Poems that advance to the limit of time and to the community beyond that show the connection of the community with others beyond time and the finite being by the repetition of death and birth, encounter with primitive time, and solidarity with fate beings. This gives the subject a chance to exist as part of an open community.
Baekseok"s poems are meaningful in that they suggest the possibility of new community emergence in times of community collapse. As a solitary one, we can find in Baekseok"s poem the communal ideas that modern individuals have lost, especially the sublime communal ideas. The poetic stimulus of the open community thrown out by BaekSeokk"s poems will certainly act as a stimulus to broaden our poetry.
