This study proposed a TSMC (Terminal Sliding Mode Control) optimized by the experimental GWO (Grey Wolf Optimization) learning technique for the precise positioning of a robot manipulator. A terminal sliding mode controller was which is a meta heuristic optimization technique, was applied via a real-time experimental optimization process to estimate unknown parameters of a robot manipulator and optimize the control gains of TSMC without depending on time-consuming identification and tuning procedures. The comparative experimental results for position tracking control for a two-axis Cartesian robot showed the efficacy of the proposed control scheme.
