In this article, I explore the potentiality of including the arts as an effective medium for transforming a classroom into a creative learning community. In doing so, I engage in an autobiographical and philosophical search of currere and theorize the makings and significances of my own artistic experiences as a student in a graduate classroom. I argue that even in general academic classes and foundational education courses, the arts can 1) position and empower students as embodied creators, 2) make students and their creative works visible to each other, and 3) empower students to contribute to creating the world with their creative works and expressions. Based on this understanding of the arts as a curricular medium, I envision an arts-mediated project for my own teacher education classes which are not specifically designed for students specialized in the arts. I suggest that such a curriculum can empower future teachers to re-imagine education as a creative, expressive, and communicative way of being, living, and learning with others.
