World Evangelical Alliance(WEA) is a global network of evangelicals that unites churches for Gospel witness and discipleship. Our denomination(Hapdong) is a member of WEA. WEA pursues a global transformation, witness and discipleship by Gospel. Along with this pursuit WEA is engaged in global issues such as hunger, oppression, media, politics, world-mission, and all kinds of worldviews including other religions. However, WEA has been associated with Roman Catholic Church(RCC) and World Council of Churches(WCC) for pursuing those global issues over the last two decades. “Christian Witness in a Multi-Religious World: Recommendations for Conduct” and "International Consultation between the Catholic Church and the World Evangelical Alliance [2009-2016]" are two main documents produced as a result of the association with RCC and WCC, by which WEA has been criticized for abandoning its original faith and mission statements corresponded to the Biblical teaching by many inside and outside. Our denomination is one of them. Even though the two documents have some dangerous statements not in accord with the Scriptural teachings, it is not necessary for us to secede from WEA. Since the main goal of WEA is the involvement in global issues and the fight against secularism, materialism, totalitarianism, and so on, its association with RCC and WCC is understandable and thus must not be seen as an abandonment of its evangelical stance. However, we have to be careful and on the watch for WEA"s association with RCC and WCC whether it goes astray from traditionally Scriptural teachings which it held on to in its inception.
