The aim of this study is to analyze the pragmatic problems in oral presentation by advanced Korean learners. Oral presentation is important for advanced Korean learners, especially learners of Korean for specific purposes. Because they must often make presentations. But these advanced Korean learners have more pragmatic problems than grammatical errors when they product oral presentation. Thus in this study I will focus on the pragmatic aspects of oral presentation by advanced Korean learners. In this study, I have two research questions: ⅰ) what kind of types of pragmatic problem in oral presentation by advanced Korean learners are classified? ⅱ) what linguistic aspects of pragmatic problems are represented? In response to these questions, this study classified pragmatic problems in oral presentation into pragmalinguistic problems and sociopragmatic problems. There are four factors in pragmalinguistic problems: ⅰ) formal expressions, ⅱ) discourse makers, ⅲ) formula, ⅳ) politeness. And there are two factors in sociopragmatic problems: ⅰ) difference in recognition about formal situation, ⅱ) difference in the subject of an act. In this paper, the data were collected from 15 advanced Korean learners and analyzed by a qualitative analysis with checking the frequency partially. The results from the data analysis reveals that even advanced learners who don't have grammatical errors have many pragmatic problems in oral presentation. (Ewha Womans University)
