This paper examines pottery vessels excavated from the lower part of ruined building complexes. These pottery vessels called vessels of Jijin were deliberately buried when people began to work on the building complexes. The vessels of Jijin deliberately buried for following precedent to made the spirits of the terrain weakening or relaxing. The objective of this study to examine the chronology of the pottery vessels of Jijin recovered from the excavation in Gyeongju area. In the past, the majority of Korean archaeologists, if not all, have automatically considered those pottery that were recovered in Gyeongju area to be the products of Unified Silla. However, this paper, by combining other archaeological information such as roof tiles and celadon, argues that there is a strong possibility that a large numbers of them may be dated to the early Goryeo Dynasty. The entire pottery vessels of Jijin excavated from Gyeongju area was classified into five different types. Type Ⅰ, was buried Unified Silla, come to know Type Ⅱ·Ⅲ·Ⅳ·Ⅴ is continuous Unified Silla and type Ⅱ·Ⅲ·Ⅳ·Ⅴ is buried early Goryeo Dynasty as a female roof-tile with long paddle beaten surface decoration, a celadon bowl with a halo-shaped foot, analysis of a sample in the vessels of Jijin, a case of the same shaped vessels of Jijin excavated from other place. I hope that this research could play a small role for the study of the vessels of Jijin which were used at ritual ceremony in terms of building architectures during the end of Unified Silla and early Goryeo Dynasty.
