We developed education program using multimedia for Genetically Modified Organisms(GMO) and it was applied to primary school students. At first we investigated the recognition for GMO of 208 primary school students in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. And then, we developed educational multimedia programs based on the investigation results for GMO, and applied it to the 96 students of the 5th grade of primary school in Gyeonggi Province. The results were as follows: Firstly, awareness of the primary school students for gene and GMO was 48.6% and 51.4%, respectively. They could mainly experience GMO through TV, class in school, books, and magazines. Secondly, the developed education program consisted of two animations called ‘Bio-Olympics' and ‘10-minute discussion', and one database. The meaning of the GMO was included in the ‘Bio-Olympics', positive and negative meanings were shown in ‘10-minute discussion'. And various kinds and characteristics of the GMO were included in the database. After experiencing multimedia program, primary school students learned the meaning and usage of GMO and they also got realized positive and negative aspects of it.
