The lack of contents and the misunderstanding about Korea and Indonesia as written in the social sciences textbooks of both countries are critical problems that need to be addressed. It is worth noted that these particular problems have partly shaped the present condition of relationship among Korean and Indonesian children in their learning age. Since it is important to strengthen and maintain the warm and sustainable relationship between both countries, it is highly essential to keep a good understanding of both sides. At one point, Indonesian social sciences textbooks merely describes about Korean war; Korea under President Park Chung Hee; and recently about Korean economic achievement. On the other hand, Korean social sciences textbooks have also yet to describe deeply about Indonesia as it is, considering the fact that Indonesia is vast and varied in its cultural context. In fact, there is much more to offer and learn about the two countries. Hence, Korea–Indonesia bilateral relationship especially for the past five decades should have been an important subject in the social sciences textbooks of both countries. One more thing, it is significant to underline the importance of learning the historical values to lead into the future. By learning and understanding more about each other, the present and future generations will apparently demonstrate their interest in fostering the present relationship into a higher level in the future so as to benefit more for both countries. Accordingly, in order to consolidate the close relationship between Korea–Indonesia in the future, it is important to make sure that younger generations receive ample information and knowledge on both countries’ real situation. Only then will future generations be able to develop and foster better relationship between the two countries.
