There exist some differences between TKFL(Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language) and TKMT(Teaching Korean as a Mother Tongue). Amongst them, whether realistic Korean is adopted or not is the most prominent one. This should be a serious problem we have to try to solve, and we think prescriptive attitude to Korean is to be prohibited sometime. Pronunciation part of dictionaries may play a role as a helping material, but it is our problem that Korean dictionaries don't have current linguistic realities. So we discussed the new desirable directions of editing Korean dictionaries for language education. And we concluded that the present part of pronunciation teaching and learning is necessary to be reduced because realistic Korean is learned as a mother tongue or is enough to be learned to the level of average communication. Instead, we think that various speech skills as a profound functional Korean could replace that. Those skills are to be examined by a linguistic attitude research and to be studied according to the social and educational needs.
