The purpose of this study was to determine the parents' perception on the roles and improvements of special physical education teacher in school for children with mental retardation. The subject for this study was 202 parents who were selected by simple random sampling method at the four different schools in Seoul. We got two results from this study: The priority of parents' expectations was that the special physical education teacher would play a great role as an expert in education setting. The rest of expectations were that they would maintain students' health, provide social experiences and treatments of rehabilitation. The improvements of special physical education teacher were to enhance speciality of special physical education teacher, provide good facilitates for better education, maintain students' health and cooperation with parents of these students with mental retardation.
